Meet Kortney Ziegler, PhD, a serial entrepreneur who develops simple tech solutions that increase financial and social prosperity for users. Before WellMoney, Kortney co-founded a crowdfunding platform – Appolition – that raised over $1 million to pay bail for people who couldn’t afford it. It was named one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies by FastCompany. In following this success and with the support and investment from the ideas42 Ventures Studio, Kortney launched WellMoney to provide communal financial support for those who need it.

  • WellMoney uses the first $1-$5 of members’ monthly contributions for operating costs. Everything else goes back into the WellMoney community to fund emergency needs.

  • No, money you receive from WellMoney is not a loan. We believe people in need should get the money they need, no strings attached.

  • Every new member has a 32 day waiting period and must complete two membership payments before they are able to request cash. This is to keep our community safe, fair and transparent. During the wait period, everyone can access our library of resources and community building events.

  • To be part of the WellMoney community, we ask all members to contribute $1-$5 once a month towards WellMoney operating costs. All member contributions over $1-$5 go directly to other members in need. We ask that you contribute what feels comfortable and right for you.

  • WellMoney pools together member contributions and distributes funds to other members who request support for emergencies such as paying for groceries, rent, childcare, healthcare and more.

  • WellMoney works by creating a balance between member contributions and requests. If you find that you do not need to make an emergency request, your membership is still vital in helping fulfill other members’ needs as they arise.

  • The WellMoney team reviews each emergency support request as they come in. We respond to every request within 48 hours.

  • When facing a financial emergency, you can make a request for aid through your private WellMoney account. You don't need to share a personal story, just tell us the purpose for requesting cash.
